The Metro Footy League Finals Series, sponsored by the City of Stirling, held their medal night this week with Mayor Mark Irwin in attendance.
Congratulations to all those acknowledged at the event, including Balga Bombers Football Club’s Gregory Nelson who took out the prestigious Dave Hodgson Medal for the league’s best and fairest player, Brandon Woods from Innaloo Bulldogs Football Club who was equal runner-up and Life Membership inductee Slavko Mutavdzic, the league's field umpire since 1995.
The award recipients all acknowledged the important role community football plays in young people's lives and in the development of the sport and gave a nod to the critical contribution of umpires.
This weekend’s game at Robinson Reserve, will see the Innaloo Bulldogs take on the Balga Bombers in the elimination final where awardees Gregory and Brandon will go head to head, and the grand finals will bring the season to close Sunday 17 September.
